Personalize (from Writing Tips for Non Writers, March 10, 2012)

Even the best business blogs, like the Harvard Business Review, lapse into general speech and theoretical language.

Not necessary.

Blogs are afraid of leaving someone out. Like the water might miss the crack that splits the boulder unless it wets the whole rock.

Watch firefighters. They aim a hose at a flame and pound away.

Do that.

Be personal.

Imagine one person with one problem.

A woman's hair is on fire.

Save her life.

Save her hair.

Other people will see you do that.

They'll get it.
